Eighth Grade US History
This eighth grade US history course continues the look at different themes in American history that was begun in the seventh grade. The Civil War, African-American history from slavery to today, women’s roles in American society, economics: boom times and bust times, and the reform movements in America are the major topics that will be covered during the first half of the year. During the second semester our focus will shift from domestic issues to America’s role on the world stage. We will trace developments in foreign policy, World Wars I and II, and the Cold War. A variety of teaching methods, including lecture, group work, guided research, collaborative projects and class discussion will help students retain material.
